Clear Aligners

Invisalign aligners and ClearCorrect systems offer a discreet alternative to traditional braces. These clear, removable alignment trays straighten your teeth without any fixed appliances and are easy to maintain.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Simply wear your Invisalign or ClearCorrect trays for a minimum of 23 hours a day (only remove them during meals or to clean your teeth). The aligners apply gentle pressure to your teeth to move them into a better position. Every two weeks, you progress to the next set of aligners until you reach the last set in the series.

Since each pair of aligners is shaped differently from the last, you’ll feel a bit of pressure each time you transition to a new set of trays. The mild pressure will gradually wear off over the two weeks and then the process repeats itself as you progress throughout the treatment.

Some people will also require small tooth-coloured attachments for added retention. They serve to improve the surface area for the aligners to grip onto and are removed once treatment is complete.

Day-to-Day Maintenance

It’s important that you remove your ClearCorrect or Invisalign trays during meals, as food particles could become trapped against your teeth. Plan to brush and floss each day, clean your trays with a toothbrush and then place them back into your mouth.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Everyone’s smile is different. Some people only require about three months to straighten their teeth, while others may need treatment for 6-18 months. We will be able to estimate the treatment duration during your consultation process.

Who is an Ideal Candidate?

Because it’s important to remember to wear the trays correctly and change them out as directed, adults tend to be the best candidate for this treatment.

During your initial evaluation we will take a series of photographs, moulds and scans of your teeth. Depending on the current alignment of your bite, we can then determine if clear aligners are right for you.
